Outcome Area: Community Engagement and Wrap Around Support
- Parent and two-generation support
- Leadership and Advocacy
The mission of the Collaboration for Student & Parent Leadership Working Group is to equip students and parents with the tools, information, and opportunities they need to lead education reform and community development efforts from the ground up in order to improve student success, cultivate community leadership, and advance educational equity. The Collaboration aims to help reach the target of increasing the Santa Fe Public School District’s attendance rate to 95% by 2020 by working with parents and students to identify strategies to help their families succeed in school with academic proficiency and connect to in and out of school engagement opportunities in safe environments. In this way, the program will engage youth and parents directly in the development of solutions and build awareness, advocacy, and community support for improving youth attendance and resiliency. The focus of this collaborative is to build the civic capacity and support the leadership of parents and students from low-income and minority backgrounds with a focus on equity.
