NetworkCollaboration at its finest.

Summer of 2017 brought about a successful partnership in summer programing! The City’s Summer Youth Program, partnered with the Santa Fe Community Educators Network (SFCEN) to provide enrichment programming at Sweeney Elementary, one of the Summer Youth Program sites.

Partner organizations of SFCEN each chose a week to provide 2-3 hours of programming every day at Sweeney Elementary. Each week, two organizations took a group of 25 kids ages 9-12 to do activities. These activities included field trips to the different organizations, art activities with science, weaving, pottery making and more. The materials for the activities used by each organization were funded by a grant from the Santa Fe Community Foundation.

Importantly, part of the work included a comprehensive program evaluation of both overall program success as well as individual youth progress over the 8 weeks. Findings from the evaluation will be shared in the next few months.

The hope is to be able to expand this program to more sites next year.
